The Find My app use to be two apps which are Find My Phone and Find My Friend.Right now Apple has made these two apps to be one which is Find My.The apps enable you to locate your friends and devices as well. Just like the Find My iPhone or the Find My Friend, you can also use the Find My app on your Mac to locate your friends and devices. Below, we will be showing you how to use Find My on.

The app allowed a person approved by the user, who also had to have an Apple device, to access the GPS location of the user's Apple mobile device. The app could be used to track children, family, and friends.
• The “Find my Friends” feature is available on a Mac with OS X 10.11.x (El Capitan) or a more fresh version of the OS installed. Before you can share your location with your friends and find your devices, you need to turn on Location Services and Find My Mac. You can do this when you open Find My for the first time or later in System Preferences.

Turn on Location Services

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Security & Privacy.

2. Click Privacy, then click Location Services on the left.

3. Click the lock icon to unlock it, then enter an administrator name and password.

4. Select Enable Location Services, then select Find My in the list of apps.

Set up Find My Mac

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.

   If you don’t see Apple ID, click Sign In, then sign in with your Apple ID or click Create Apple ID (if you don’t already have one).

2. Click iCloud in the sidebar.

3. Select Find My Mac, then click Allow (if asked) to allow Find My Mac to use the location of your Mac.

   If a Details button is next to Find My Mac, make sure you turned on Location Services and Find My in Security & Privacy preferences.

Turn on Find My options

1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Apple ID, then click iCloud in the sidebar.

   If you don’t see Apple ID, click Sign In, then sign in with your Apple ID or click Create Apple ID (if you don’t already have one).

2. Click iCloud in the sidebar.

3. Select Find My Mac, then click Options.

   If you see a Details button, you need to set up Find My.

4. Turn any of the following on or off: Download free microsoft word for mac free download.

   • Find My Mac: Turning this option on allows you to locate your Mac if you misplace it, and protect the information on it.

   • Offline Finding: Turning this option on allows you to locate your device (using Bluetooth) even when it isn’t connected to Wi-Fi or cellular.

     Note: When you turn off Offline Finding, your Mac can’t be found by you or anyone else.

Find My Friends (called 'Find Friends' on the SpringBoard) was a mobile phone tracking app and service for iOS devices developed by Apple Inc. It was replaced by the app Find My in 2019.

The app allowed a person approved by the user, who also had to have an Apple device, to access the GPS location of the user's Apple mobile device. The app could be used to track children, family, and friends, besides others such as employees, without them being notified that they are being tracked. The app could also track the location of a person as a safety measure.

The Find My Friends app enabled a person approved by a user to follow and track them with their iOS device(s).^[1] Users could also share their location with people they choose. According to Apple, there was a maximum of 100 trackers ('friends').^[2]

The tracker could also receive notifications when the user left or arrived at a new place.^[3] Location was determined using GPS in the iOS device when Location Services were turned on. The apps required that the device's Location Services be turned on for the app. Modified software allowed notifications to appear when a user requested a tracker to see where they are^[4] or was turned on through the message application. It could also be accepted through Facebook sharing options. The feature could be turned on and off at any time.^[5]

Like many iOS applications that used Location Services, parental controls were available. Find My Friends synchronized with other applications such as Maps and Contacts. The app was supported on the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad,^[6] Apple Watch, or on iCloud.com on Windows. A friend's location could be viewed in OS X 10.10 as well, by clicking 'Details' in the top right corner of the Messages App. Iskysoft itube studio 7.0.0.5 for mac.

Privacy considerations[edit]

The app raised potential privacy issues arising from the tracking of a user's exact location, without them being notified that they are being tracked. Several safety features allowed a user to share their location only with people they choose and turn off the permission at any time. 'Friends' could only track users who had accepted their access request. The user could remove them from access at any time or only make the tracking temporary.^[7]

Another way to turn the tracking off was to turn Location Services off. This was done by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services, selecting the app in the list and selecting the 'Never' option. Tracking could be turned back on by selecting the 'While Using the App' option.^[8] Location services and hence location tracking did not operate when a device was in 'Airplane mode'.

Find My Friends was announced on October 4, 2011,^[9] and released on October 12, 2011, several hours before the actual release of iOS 5.^[10]

Since the release of iOS 9 (in September 2015), the app has been bundled with iOS and installed automatically. Users running on iOS 8 can download the app from the App Store free of charge.

As of iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, Find My Friends was discontinued with its function merged with Find My iPhone for iOS and Find My Mac for macOS into new app called Find My.
